Malcarne Tree is growing and looking to add an experienced Tree Climber / Arborist to our team.
This position is ideal for someone with hands-on tree care experience who is comfortable climbing, operating chainsaws, working around equipment, and performing safe, professional tree work. The Tree Climber / Arborist will be responsible for assisting with tree removals, pruning, trimming, storm cleanup, and general tree care operations while working closely with our crew leaders and ground crew.
Responsibilities
- Climb trees using proper rope, saddle, harness, and climbing techniques
- Perform tree removals, pruning, trimming, and storm damage cleanup
- Safely operate chainsaws, pole saws, hand saws, rigging equipment, and related tree care tools
- Set ropes, rig limbs, lower branches, and assist with controlled removals
- Work from the ground, in trees, and from aerial lift equipment when needed
- Identify hazards such as dead limbs, weak unions, power lines, decay, and unsafe work conditions
- Communicate clearly with ground crew, equipment operators, and supervisors
- Assist with job site setup, cleanup, brush handling, chipping, and loading materials
- Follow all company safety procedures and industry best practices
- Maintain and inspect climbing gear, saws, ropes, and other equipment
- Provide professional, respectful service while working on client properties
- Assist with landscaping or general outdoor labor tasks as needed
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required
- Previous tree climbing experience required
- Experience with chainsaws, rigging, ropes, and tree removal procedures required
- Knowledge of safe climbing practices and tree care operations
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, climbing, dragging brush, and operating equipment
- Must be dependable, safety-focused, and able to work well with a crew
- Bucket truck, chipper, stump grinder, or equipment experience preferred
- CDL, ISA Arborist Certification, or other tree care certifications are a plus but not required
