Malcarne Tree is growing and looking to add a qualified Crane Operator / CDL Driver to our team.
This position is ideal for someone with experience operating cranes, driving commercial vehicles, and working safely around tree crews, equipment, and active job sites. The Crane Operator / CDL Driver will assist with tree removals, storm cleanup, equipment transport, material handling, and general tree care operations.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate cranes during tree removals, storm cleanup, and other tree care projects
- Drive commercial vehicles to and from job sites
- Transport equipment, materials, logs, brush, and debris as needed
- Work closely with climbers, arborists, ground crews, and crew leaders during crane-assisted removals
- Inspect crane, truck, rigging, straps, chains, and related equipment before use
- Set up equipment safely, including proper positioning, stabilization, and work zone awareness
- Assist with lifting, lowering, and moving tree sections, logs, and heavy materials
- Follow all DOT, company, and job site safety procedures
- Maintain accurate vehicle inspection reports, logs, and required paperwork
- Help with loading, unloading, job site cleanup, and general crew support when needed
- Communicate clearly with crew members, supervisors, and customers on-site
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional vehicle and work area
Requirements
- Valid CDL required
- Crane operating experience required
- Experience working around tree crews, construction crews, or outdoor job sites preferred
- Ability to safely operate commercial trucks and heavy equipment
- Knowledge of rigging, load handling, equipment setup, and job site safety
- Must be dependable, safety-focused, and able to work well with a crew
- Ability to perform physical labor when needed, including lifting, carrying, climbing in and out of equipment, and assisting crews on-site
- Clean driving record preferred
- DOT medical card required
- NCCCO certification or crane operator certification preferred
- Tree care, logging, construction, towing, or heavy equipment experience is a plus
